When the Admiral told me the deal, he really undersold this place.

[There's a rough-sounding, Australian-accented voice coming from your network, the feed flickering to a man who's appearance matches his voice. Rough. He looks like he's been through a few bad fights. A sling is visible around his right arm, and steri-strips along a cut on his forehead.]

Still, it's better than where I've come from. At least until we fix it up... My name's Herc Hansen, I'm a warden. And, honestly, the sooner I get my bloody inmate, the better. No offense to you lot, but a lot's restin' on my deal. Rather get it on the road as soon as possible.

[A pause.]

Oh, and anyone good at fixing broken arms?

[Welp. He doesn't strike Merlin as a man who cares to hear much sympathy, so he doesn't hand any out.]

[And he is, the feed shutting off as he grabs up the device.]

[Merlin'll be waiting for him on the ward. He has some supplies ready, but whether or not he'll need them depends on his patient, really. Regardless of his background, the man gave the affect of a soldier, and one who's pragmatic about the need for treatment for his injuries.]

Just for fair warning, some people can go a long time without being paired with anyone. I'd sit tight if I were you.

[Tig laughs; he can't help it. As much time as he's done, the attitude can't help but rankle, like nails on a chalkboard. He doesn't care that the guy looks like shit, it's the whole fucking attitude. Better than the screws back home who took the job because they couldn't cut it as a cop and liked to beat on people, but not by much.]

Oh, you're gonna last long.

Piece of advice? Don't tell the cons you're only here to get what he promised you.

[Herc walks in, glancing around the room, taking stock of his surroundings, before his gaze settles on the young man in front of him.

What's evident now, in person moreso than over the network, is that the man looks tired, yet still alert, posture straight.]

You're Merlin?

[He pauses only briefly.]

I can set and splint your arm, and clean and redress your other wounds, or I can use magic and heal them altogether.

[It's still kind of weird to just put it all on the table that way.]

Honestly, if the admiral wants me to stay here and graduate a hundred inmates for my deal, it doesn't matter. I'll stay as long as it takes.
